PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable, in transmitting image data to an opposite device such as a printer on a network, a reduction in time required for the image data to be transmitted to the opposite device.SOLUTION: When an image processing apparatus receives an instruction to transmit an image, determines which coding method to be employed on the basis of the time required for compression and coding of an image to be transmitted, the size of the image, and the transfer rate for each of coding methods. The image processing apparatus then performs coding by using the determined coding means and transmits the coded image to an opposite device. |
