PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine piston capable of reducing the slide resistance between a piston skirt and a cylinder inner circumferential surface, capable of suppressing piston behaviors, effective particularly at high load time.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine piston is configured so that a cross-section of a piston skirt 24 close to an opposite side to a combustion chamber relatively to a maximum outside diameter position of the piston skirt in a height direction of the piston is formed to generally match a single elliptical shape E2 passing through a piston axial center plane X orthogonal to a piston pin and through a skirt side &bgr; located apart from the piston axial center plane X in a piston pin length direction, in a central portion 24f on the piston axial center plane X in which the piston skirt 24 can contact a cylinder inner circumferential surface, to include a concave portion 24g recessed radially inward provided in an intermediate portion α between the central portion 24f and the skirt side &bgr;, and to return again to the single elliptical shape E2 on a part close to the skirt side &bgr; relatively to the recessed portion 24g. |
