[Also in Group X] Sheet metal support members for the boards, &c., of ships' bulkheads, or linings therefor, 13, 14, comprise two or more channels 15, 16 with their mouths directed outwardly and secured by one or more strips 17, 18 outside the channels with their longitudinal edges 19 hooked over the edges of the channels and preferably closed into gripping engagement. The backs of the channels may be spaced apart to accommodate a tube which may serve as a gas or water pipe or an electric cable conduit. For a corner the channel mouths are at right angles and the edges of angle strips are bent respectively round the inner and outer edges of the channels. Or the outer strip may be arcuate to provide a rounded corner. A T-joint is made up of channels 45, 46 and an intervening deeper channel 47 at right angles, all being interlocked by a flat strip 48 and two angle strips 49, 50. The Provisional Specification describes a T-support in which the channel at right angles is formed by inwardly bending one of the strips. Two support members may be joined in alignment by the engagement of strips projecting beyond the end of one member with the end of the other member which extends beyond the end of its strips.</p> |
