PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gland packing that is improved to reduce friction and maintain good sealing performance while following a configuration comprising a combined material of expanded graphite and PTFE.SOLUTION: A gland packing A has a configuration in which an expanded graphite tape having a surface layer 2 comprising burned PTFE is spirally or concentrically wound up with the surface layer 2 located on the radial inner side. It is desirable that the surface layer 2 is formed only at a portion corresponding to an inner peripheral surface 1N of the innermost one circle, and the surface layer 2 may include graphite. The expanded graphite tape may be impregnated with a hydrocarbon system lubricant, and in this case, preferably, a weight ratio of the hydrocarbon system lubricant is set to be 3-5%. |
