The present invention provides the apparatus to control steering for changing an electric current map in accordance with the friction level of a deceleration gear, comprising: a friction level estimating part which estimates the friction level of the deceleration gear by supplying electric current for estimating the friction level of a deceleration gear included in an electric power steering system to a power steering motor mechanically connected to the deceleration gear; a deceleration gear operation detecting part which detects the operation of the deceleration gear by the driving of the power steering motor provided with the electric current for estimating the friction level; an electric current map storage part which stores electric current map data by the friction level which are different electric current map data by each friction level of the deceleration gear; and an electric current control part which extracts the estimated friction level electric current map data which are the friction level of the deceleration gear estimated in the friction level estimating part among the electric current map data by the friction level and changes the electric current map data of the preset electric power steering system into the estimated friction level electric current map data.</p>
