A pair of garden shears comprises two pivotably connected blade carriers 6, 7, each formed at one end with a handle-receiving socket 6a, 7a and at the other end, on the side abutting the complementary blade carrier, with a recess 6d, 7d receiving the end of a blade 8, 9, the pivot pin 11 passing through the parts of the blades within the recesses. The blades are riveted in the recesses and one wall of each recess is undercut as at 7f to accommodate the chamfered end of a blade. The handles 4, 5 may be formed as aluminium alloy tubes and the blade carriers as aluminium die castings having flange-like strengthening ribs 6e. |
