<p>A signal combining device 10 comprises a plurality of inputs 12, 14, 16 and an output 20. The inputs 12 and 14 may be connected to signal paths carrying signals of different frequency ranges such as RF signals and xDSL or VDSL-2 signals. The input 16 may receive power. The output 20 may be connected to a coaxial cable 52. The first input 12 and second input 14 are connected to a combination filter 30. The third input 16 is connected to the output of the combination filter 30. The first input 12 is adapted to receive an electrically balanced xDSL signal . A balun 24 is placed between the first input and the combination filter to convert the balanced xDSL signal to an unbalanced (ground-referred) signal prior to its passing to the combination filter. It is disclosed that two devices 10 & 10 (fig.3) may be used to combine a VDSL-2 signal, an RF signal and power on a single coaxial cable and to separate them into a VDSL-2 signal (again electrically balanced), an RF signal and power at the far end. The device simplifies cabling in a users cable TV and broadband installation.</p> |
