A augmented reality system comprises an imaging device configured to capture 210 a first data set comprising a real-time image of a users field of view (FOV); at least one geospatial sensor configured to capture 220 a second data set representing the user's geographical location; and at least one inertial sensor configured to capture 225 a third data set representing the user's movement. At least one processor is configured to: receive 215 the data sets; generate 245 a virtual environment using data from the second and third data sets, generate 240 augmented elements within the virtual environment instantiated at co-ordinates based on the third data set, and combine 260 the user's FOV within the virtual environment with the first data set to form an augmented image comprising the augmented elements. A display device is configured to display the augmented image. |
