Method and apparatus for remote control of an audio source such as a wireless microphone system

The method involves transmitting data from a transmitter to a receiver and stored in a wireless audio system (106). A link is established between the receiver and a central control (102). The stored data is monitored to determine whether or not any problem exists in receiver from the central control. An appropriate remedial action is communicated from the remote control to the system to alleviate any of the problems.
