<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an opening ratio of each pixel in a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises an active matrix type liquid crystal display panel. TFT elements of two pixels adjoining to each other interposing one scanning signal line are connected at the respective gates thereof to the one scanning signal line, while either the sources or the drains of the TFT elements are connected to image signal lines different from each other. Between two adjoining scanning signal lines, a pixel having the TFT element with the gate connected to one scanning signal line of the two scanning signal lines, and a pixel having the TFT element with the gate connected to the other scanning signal line are arranged in an extending direction of the image signal lines.
