The weapons-based protection device (1) has an active protection system (2) for automatic alignment of the target direction, particularly in azimuth and elevation. The active protection system has a launching device (3) for directional launching of effectors, particularly hard-kill missiles for protection against approaching threats. A weapon system (4) is aligned with respect to the target direction, particularly in azimuth and elevation. The protection system and the weapon system have a common vertical axis of rotation.
