[Class 114] A screw propeller comprises a number of flexible blades A each of which is curved both in crosssection and longitudinally so as to sweep out a conical path when rotated, these blades being rotated by small shafts B which are inclined in conical formation about a central driving shaft C and are driven therefrom through the intermediary of an air coupling formed by blades D, E on the shafts. The small shafts B carry ball races F, G and rollers H which are mounted in a housing J with rollers K between the rollers H. In a modified form, each blade is S-shaped in cross-section.</p> |
