The present invention relates to a refrigerator and a home appliance. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the refrigerator comprises: a compressor; an input current detection unit detecting input current in input alternating current power inputted to the refrigerator; a converter converting the input alternating current power into direct current power; a capacitor storing the converted direct current power; an inverter outputting alternating current power by using the converted direct current power to drive the compressor; a DC terminal voltage detection unit detecting voltage of both ends of the capacitor; and a compressor microcomputer controlling the inverter, and calculating power consumption of the refrigerator based on the detected input current and the detected DC terminal voltage. Accordingly, power consumption can be simply calculated.
