The present invention relates to a device for verifying an identification code, comprising a card insertion unit for inserting an identification card therein and reading identification data from the identification card, as well as a touchscreen for receiving the identification code. The screen is provided with first detection means for detecting damage to the screen and comprises connecting means for receiving and sending signals. The device further comprises a housing for accommodating the card insertion unit therein, which housing is provided with second detection means for detecting damage to the housing. The housing comprises an opening for receiving the screen at least partially, and the screen is positioned in the opening in such a manner that the connecting means are located within the housing and the screen closes the opening.
