733,345. Change-speed gear. BRISTOL CO. April 17, 1953 [Jan. 24, 1952], No. 2007/52. Class 80 (2). A turret unit 4 containing a train of gears comprises a casing 6-and, as shown, spindles 10, 10 each carrying a pair of gears, the turret unit being mounted between the driving gear 3 of a constant-speed spring or electric &c. motor 1 and a driven member 7a, such as a chart drive hub in a recording or similar instrument or a cam controlling a dyeing process &c., the turret unit being interchangeable with other units containing different trains to rotate the driven member at different speeds. A support post 5 projects from the motor casing and carries the turret driven spindle 7 which can be readily plugged into the driven member 7a, the gear 11 of the train being brought into mesh with the driving gear 3 by inserting the turret axially on to the post 5 and turning it thereabout until lips 14, 15 of the casing 6 have engaged under overhanging retainers 16, 17 on the motor case and a spring-urged ball 18 has engaged in a hole in the lip 15.
