The invention relates to an embossed article having one or more adhesive patterns serving to operatively attach a release paper. The body facing side of the absorbent article has an embossment region having an average depth of about 20% to about 75% of the thickness of the absorbent article, the garment facing side has a depression region having an average depth of about 15% to about 75% of the thickness of the absorbent article, and an adhesive pattern having a width and a defined surface area, covering at least about 80% of the defined surface area, and having an edge definition variation within about 0 mm to about 2 mm of the pattern width, when forming within a forming distance of about 8 mm to about 25 mm. The invention also relates to a method for attaching a release paper to a backsheet having depressed regions.
