In foundation garments such as girdles, panties, pantie girdles and garter belts made from stretchable fabric material united at the ends to form a tubular body section, the abdominal support panel is formed by uniting two ends of the fabric by stitching along a line 3 spaced inwardly from the extremities of the fabric to form flaps 5 and 6 which are folded away from each other along the line of stitching 3 and are stitched along their outer edges at 7 and 8 to the tubular section, the line of stitching 3 being inclined with respect to elastic warp threads of the fabric, which are disposed circumferentially substantially in horizontal planes in the tubular section and continue into the flaps, so that the elastic warp threads in the flaps are inclined with respect to the same threads in the tubular section. In the embodiment described a pantie girdle is formed from two identical blanks 1 and 2, Fig. 4, of two-way stretch fabric, stitched together along the lines 3 and 4. The blanks 1 and 2 have notches 9 and 10, one of which forms seam 11 and the other of which receives a slide fastener 12. The crutch of the garment is formed by stitching each of the sections along the inclined edges 14 of the blanks.
