The present disclosure relates in part to compositions and methods for the treatment of bone, including impaired bone such as fractured bone, diseased bone, weakened bone, and bone susceptible to increased load, such as increased compensatory load. These compositions and methods facilitate bone formation and strengthen bone. The present invention provides for the use of the compositions of the present invention for treatment of bone. The present invention also provides for the use of the compositions of the present invention in the preparation of a medicament useful for treatment of bone. In an embodiment, the composition comprises a biocompatible matrix and a solution comprising platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF).
