The present invention relates to a display driving apparatus comprising a frame memory and a method for compressing and decompressing data of the same. A display driving chip according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an encoding unit for generating final mode information and a compressed bit stream based on a macroblock and a first reference pixel and for generating a final bit stream by using the final mode information and the compressed bit stream; and a frame memory for storing the final bit stream and for providing the stored final bit stream to a decoding unit wherein the final mode information includes mode information of a selected pixel and a restored reference value of a non-selected pixel.
