摘要

The starting power of a vehicle alternator is increased by applying an increased initial voltage for example 20 V instead of 12 V to the rotor winding. A high starting torque is obtained and to avoid overheating the voltage is reduced to normal during the latter part of the starting phase. On moving to use as an alternator the polarity of the rotor winding voltage is reversed to give rapid demagnetization and avoid engine stalling.
