摘要 The present invention relates to an apparatus for acquiring an image for iris recognition using face component distance and a method thereof. The apparatus of the present invention includes: a buffer which photographs a person image of more than one object with a camera in order to acquire an image for iris recognition and stores the photographed person image; a face component distance calculation part which calculates the face component distance from the person image stored in the buffer; an actual distance estimation part which estimates actual distance between the object and the camera from the face component distance calculated in the face component distance calculation part, and checks that the object exists in an iris photographing space from the estimated distance; and an iris image acquisition part which acquires a child image from the person image of the object who is checked to exist in the iris photographing space from the actual distance estimation part, and acquires an image for iris recognition satisfying standard of quality by measuring the quality of the acquired child image.
