METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE OF A RIBBON OF FLOAT GLASS ON A MOLTEN METAL BATH

A method for controlling the temperature of a ribbon of float glass (1) on a molten metal bath (5) of a float glass production line by using radiative units inside the closed space above the bath to cool the glass ribbon, said method involving: circulating a gaseous fluid through the radiative units (13) for controlling the temperature of the glass ribbon; using the radiative units inside said closed space not only to absorb heat radiation from the glass and the environment of thereof in order to cool same, but also to emit heat radiation and provide heating for the glass; and defining the intensity of the heat exchange between each radiative unit and the glass ribbon at each point of the length of the bath so as to obtain the desired temperature curve.
