A fiber optic assembly includes first (152) and second (154) sets of ferrules. The first set of ferrules includes a first ferrule (114) supporting a first plurality of optical fibers including first (G1) and second (G2) groups of optical fibers, a second ferrule (116) supporting a second plurality of optical fibers including third (G3) and fourth (G4) groups of optical fibers, and a third ferrule (118) supporting a third plurality of optical fibers including fifth (G5) and sixth (G6) groups of optical fibers. The second set of ferrules includes a fourth ferrule (122) and a fifth ferrule (124). The fourth ferrule (122) supports optical fibers of the first (G1), second (G2), third (G3), and fourth (G4) groups of optical fibers, and the fifth ferrule (124) supports optical fibers of the third (G3), fourth (G4), fifth (G5), and sixth (G6) groups of optical fibers.
