A polymer fiber comprising a thermoplastic polymer and an inorganic filler, wherein the filler content, based on the polymer fiber, is more than about 10% by weight and the mean particle size (D50) of the filler is less than or equal to about 6 μm. A textile fabric, especially nonwoven, produced from the polymer fiber.

Polymer fibers comprising a thermoplastic polymer and an inorganic filler wherein the filler content, based on the polymer fiber, is greater than about 10 wt %, and the average particle size (D50) of the filler is equal to or less than about 6 μm, wherein the polymer fibers comprise spunbond multicomponent filaments having a core/shell configuration in which a first polymer component is in the core and a second polymer component is in the shell.
