PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism of preferentially selecting a route that supports new discoveries and experiences of a user and presenting it in a route selection system.SOLUTION: A route selection system comprises: map information storage means for storing map information; historical route record storage means for storing historical route records which are historical records of routes a user traveled in the past; start point and destination receiving means for receiving a start point and a destination of the user; route selection means for performing route selection in such a manner that a route having fewer historical route records of travels by the user is preferentially selected on the basis of the start point, the destination, the map information and the route history; and route display means for displaying the route selected by the route selection means.
