Provided are a household energy managing method and system based on an electric power consumption pattern. The method of managing energy according to an embodiment of the present invention measures electric power for devices, determines the states of the devices, calculates the average electric power for the devices and assigns electric power levels thereto, and generates a table that matches electric power level states and controls the states of the devices. Accordingly, the management of household energy based on an electric power consumption pattern is made possible so that user convenience is improved, and even when a policy is implemented whereby electricity rates are differentiated according to time in a smart grid, household energy can be managed flexibly and actively according to each individual's household pattern of use.
