PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing polybutadiene selectively from a mixture of unsaturated hydrocarbons having 4 carbon atoms.SOLUTION: The method for producing polybutadiene is provided which includes synthesizing polybutadiene from a mixture containing 1,3-butadiene and unsaturated hydrocarbon having 4 carbon atoms other than the 1,3-butadiene in the presence of a catalyst system consisting of: a reaction product between a rare earth element compound or Lewis based thereof (A component); an organic aluminum compound represented by the general formula (II):AlRRR, where Rand Rare same or different and are a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, Ris a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, however Rmay be same as or different from the Ror R, (B component); at least one kind of Lewis acid selected from a group consisting of a halogen compound, a complex between a metallic halogenated compound and Lewis base and an organic compound containing active halogen (C component); and aluminoxane (D component) if needed, the catalyst system being prepared in advance in the presence of the (A) component, the (B) component, the (C) component, the (D) component if needed and a conjugated diene monomer. |
