This mining machine includes: a travel device capable of traveling along a travel path in a mine; a vehicle body supported on the travel device; contactless sensors which are provided to the front of the vehicle body, which are capable of contactlessly detecting objects in detection areas thereof, and which have the travel path ahead of the vehicle body and the sides of the travel path disposed in the detection areas thereof during travel of the travel device; an obstacle detection unit which detects, on the basis of output signals from the contactless sensors, an obstacle in the travel path ahead of the vehicle body; a distance detection unit which detects, on the basis of the output signals from the contactless sensors, the distance between the vehicle body and a wall at the side of the travel path; and a travel control unit which controls the travel device on the basis of the detection result of the obstacle detection unit and/or the detection result of the distance detection unit. |
