An image capturing apparatus has a scanning unit to capture an image of an object to be scanned, a detection unit to detect an area of the object to be scanned selected by a user, and a storage unit to store a scanned image including only the selected area of the object to be scanned. The detection unit determines the selected area by detecting a position of a physical pointing object relative to the object to be scanned when the physical pointing object is between the object to be scanned and the scanning unit. |
