A method and device for string input control. An implementation of the method comprises: receiving a first string and a second string that are inputted, where the first string is inputted before the second string; identifying the first string, determining whether or not the first string is provided therein with a substring matching the second string, if yes, then identifying the substring with a block identifier; and, when an instruction for selecting the block identifier is received, moving a cursor to a position corresponding to the block identifier selected. When the second string is inputted by a user, the second string can be matched automatically in the first string; that is, if the user needs to position the cursor, automatic positioning can be implemented simply by inputting a character corresponding to a position that needs to be positioned; also, identification by means of a block is employed for positioning, the user is allowed to conveniently move the cursor to a desired position, thus increasing the efficiency in correcting an error. |
