<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce calculation cost when combining image data pieces photographed from multiple viewpoints to generate new image data. <P>SOLUTION: Intermediate viewpoint image data pieces are generated from multi-viewpoint image data pieces on the basis of a photographing mode (such as a background mode or a macro mode), and composite image data is generated on the basis of the multi-viewpoint image data pieces and the intermediate viewpoint image data pieces.
