A method of transmitting data between a server and a client, comprises, at the server: receiving, from the client, a HTTP request to obtain first data 554, the HTTP request including first data identifying information identifying the first data on the server and includes one or more optional header fields identifying second data, the second data being a resource(s) related to the first data 555; retrieving and sending the first data to the client 561; and using the optional header field(s): determining second data identifying information identifying the second data on the server, using only the optional header field and possibly the first data identifying information 555; and sending a push promise message 557 to announce the push of the second data to the client and/or pushing 559 the second data to the client. The first and second data identifying information may comprise first and second uniform resource identifiers, URIs, respectively. The first and second data may be media segments or media content subparts in a Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP, DASH, Media Presentation Description, MPD, manifest. The optional header field may specify one or more filtering parameters used by the server to filter a set of data related to a main resource to identify a list of second data to push to the client. |
