<p>An edge illuminated advertising board comprises a bracket (12, Fig. 1), an elongate light unit (14, Fig. 1), a light directing unit 16 and a translucent advertising sheet (18, Fig. 1). The light directing unit comprises a translucent light guide layer 32, a reflective layer 34 adjacent the translucent layer and an optional protective film layer 30. A waterproof seal 42 is provided for preventing ingress of moisture between the translucent layer and the reflective layer. The waterproof seal may take the form of waterproof double-sided adhesive tape. A further waterproof seal in the form of a strip of translucent waterproof adhesive tape 46 may be provided around the perimeter edge of the light directing unit. The elongate light unit comprises an elongate housing and an elongate printed circuit board (PCB) bearing a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs) spaced along the length of the PCB. The bracket has first and second adjacent slots. The first slot (20, Fig. 1) receives the elongate light unit and an edge 70 of the light directing unit 16. The second slot (22, Fig. 1) receives the translucent advertising sheet (18, Fig. 1). The arrangement may be used for advertising on the side of a bus.</p> |
