The present invention relates to an eco-friendly water-soluble coating solution which comprises: 10 to 50 parts by weight of potassium silicate or sodium silicate; 10 to 50 parts by weight of a compound having a methyl group; and 20 to 50 parts by weight of water, wherein the water-soluble solution is applied to an object to remain hydrophilic and the applied water-soluble solution reacts with carbon dioxides to form a hydrophobic insoluble coating layer. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for coating wood with the eco-friendly water-soluble coating solution, which comprises the steps of: A) preparing a coating solution comprising 20 to 30 parts by weight of potassium silicate or sodium silicate, 10 to 50 parts by weight of a compound having a methyl group and 20 to 50 parts by weight of water; B) immersing wood in a processing chamber containing the coating solution prepared in step A; C) heating the wood-immersed processing chamber to make the coating solution infiltrate into the wood; and D) drying the wood for 12 to 24 hours to prepare special wood having an insoluble coating layer. Accordingly, the coating layer is formed on various objects such as a steel plate, a steel bar, wood, Styrofoam, corrugated cardboard, concrete, paper, synthetic resin, etc. to provide the objects with various functions such as antiseptic properties, water repellency, fire retardancy, corrosion resistance, flameproofing properties, etc. In particular, by the method for coating wood with the coating solution, special wood (wood treated with preservatives, fireproof wood, waterproof wood, etc.) having improved particular effects can be provided.
