摘要 The present invention relates to a modular multi-level converter (MMC) bypass switching device in which a normal operation of a converter is possible using residual normal sub modules because a plurality of sub modules having an energy storage unit and a power semiconductor circuit connected to the energy storage unit in parallel bypasses the phase current from a broken sub module in a modular multi-level converter connected in series if an anomaly occurs in a specific sub module and a method thereof. The MMC bypass switching device according to the present invention comprises: a vacuum switch (100); a permanent magnet (210) to guide the short circuit and release of the vacuum switch (100) by magnetic force by being the other side of a moving contact bolt; an electromagnet unit (220) to generate magnetic force to pull or push the permanent magnet (210) according to the application of power impression; a power unit (240) to apply power for generating N pole magnetic force or power for generating S pole magnetic force in the electromagnet unit; a switching unit (230) to be switched so the power for generating the N pole magnetic force or the power for generating S pole magnetic force is applied to the electromagnet unit from the power unit; a latch unit (250) to fixate a permanent magnet (PM) so a moving contactor (102) maintains a separate state from a fixing contactor (101); and a control unit (270) to switching-control the switching unit.
