Disclosed are a system and a method for electronic toll collection which can perform a more accurately matching process and also has simple configuration when the toll for cars moving on a toll road is automatically collected. The system for electronic toll collection can decide as a violation car a car which passes through a car classification region when it cannot receive a communication start signal until information on a kind of the car is not generated.
