<p>An end fitting 14) suitable for a fork of a cycle frame comprises first and second plates 15,16 slotted together to form a cruciform sub-assembly and partially inserted into an open tube end 12 before fixing thereto. An aperture 19 on one of the plates serves as a mounting point or drop-out for a wheel axle. The cruciform shape provides lateral stiffness together with an orthogonal mounting surface for accessories and/or a reaction surface for a wheel hub. Additional apertures 21 may be provided for the connection of auxiliary components such as mudguard stays. A cross dowel may be inserted into an aperture 22 adjacent the main aperture 19 to form a secondary retention function.</p> |
