According to various embodiments of the present invention, a method for controlling an application by using an electronic device includes: an action of providing a message application through the electronic device; an action of acquiring a message list including information regarding one or more messages transmitted or received in the electronic device based on input for transmitting a file to an external device for the electronic device through the message application; and an action of attaching at least a part of the message information for at least one to the message application as the file based on input selecting at least one from the message list. In the action method of the electronic device, there are other possible embodiments in the same or similar range of the present invention without being limited to the explained method.
