<p>Disclosed is a position recognition device comprising a housing part (8), at least one planar coil (4) which is accommodated in the housing part (8) and is used for generating a magnetic field in a magnetic field range, at least one position transmitter (6) which is retained by an adjusting mechanism (2) that can be moved relative to the housing part (8), and a measurement and evaluation unit (10) which is functionally coupled to the planar coil (4). The position transmitter (6) is arranged within the magnetic field range in such a way that a movement of the position transmitter (6) by means of the adjusting mechanism (2) causes the inductance of the planar coil (4) to change. The measurement and evaluation unit (10) has a function by means of which the change in inductance of the planar coil (4) is registered and the position of the adjusting mechanism (2) is determined therefrom. The housing part (8) comprises a recess (14) with an internal wall (18) which is designed such that some sections of the housing part (8) surround the external circumference of the planar coil (4).
