The present invention relates to a method and a system for providing content. The method includes: a step of a user terminal, communicating with a content providing server through a network, for sensing generation of scroll input with respect to main content; a step for determining a display location of subcontent to be displayed with the main contents according to the movement direction of the main contents by the generated scroll input; and a step for displaying the subcontent on the determined location. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the subcontent can be efficiently provided to a user by determining the subcontent according to the direction of scroll input to obtain an advertisement space and then selectively displaying the subcontent in the main content.
