The present invention relates to an overlay welding method for a rail defective part to repair a rail defective part. More specifically, the present invention relates to an overlay welding method for a rail defective part to repair a rail defective part, including: a step of forming a seating groove in the rail defective part to form an engaging part wherein a base material to be welded is hung on the rail defective part; a step of welding the base material to the seating groove; and a step of polishing the welded part of the base material to make the outer surface of the rail be even. Therefore, the overlay welding method allows an increase in the durability of the base material welded to the defective part as the engaging part is formed on the rail; and reduces maintenance cost by preventing repeated damage to the rail.
