<p>A composition for giving a slip finish to supported or unsupported plasticized vinyl resin sheet or film comprises resinous polyethyl methacrylate, e.g. 20-50 per cent, resinous polymethyl methacrylate, e.g. 30-40 per cent, polyvinyl chloride or a copolymer of a major proportion of vinyl chloride with a copolymerizable monomer, e.g. vinyl acetate, diethyl maleate, diethyl fumarate, or vinylidene chloride, e.g. 10-50 per cent, and a silicone fluid or ketone-soluble silicone rubber. The silicones may be dimethyl, diethyl, or alkyl-aryl silicone fluids in amount 1.2-4 parts/100 parts resins or, preferably, uncured dimethyl silicone rubber in amount 0.3-1 parts/100 parts resins. In examples, a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer is used and the composition includes ceresin or opal wax. The composition is applied in solution in a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone with xylol, with or without cyclohexanone.</p> |
