Solutions of natural or synthetic aromatic or flavouring substances, or of pure substances isolated therefrom, used in the cosmetic, perfumery, pharmaceutical, beverage and food industries, are prepared by dissolving the substances in isopropylidene glycerol preferably in amounts of between 10 and 50 per cent of the solvent. Mixtures of isopropylidene glycerol with other miscible solvents such as ethylidene glycerol, water, methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, ester, chlorinated hydrocarbons such as chloroforms, and benzene may be used. Examples of aromatic and flavouring substances are lemon oil, orange flavour or orange peel oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, rose oil and geranium oil, menthol, musk, cumarin, betanaphthol methyl ether, vanillin, heliotropin, anthranilic acid methyl ester, diphenyloxide, methylnonyl acetaldehyde, undecalactone, methyl phenylglycidic acid methyl ester, oenanthole, phenylethyl alcohol and hydroxycitranellal. |
