The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a silica aerogel and more particularly, to a method for manufacturing a silica aerogel with a high transparency and a silica aerogel manufactured using the same. The method for manufacturing a silica aerogel according to a desired embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: forming a hydrosol by hydrolyzing an alkali silicate as a raw material; forming a hydrogel with a SiO_2 network structure by a condensation reaction of the silica sol; ageing the hydrogel; silylating the aging-treated hydrogel; and drying the silylated hydrogel under normal pressure.
