According to an aspect of the present invention, a system for controlling a train. The system can exactly sense an obstacle and includes: a laser distance measurement device which is installed on a train and measures a first distance to a destination point located on a front side of the train; a control unit that receives the first distance from the laser distance measurement device, compares the received first distance with the predetermined reference distance, and generates an emergency braking command with respect to the train if the first distance is shorter than the reference distance; and an on-board equipment which stops the train when receiving the emergency braking command from the control unit.
