A lighting device includes a device body (20) adapted to be installed on a surface of a room and first organic electroluminescence element modules (1) including organic electroluminescence elements, the first electroluminescence element modules being held in the device body with light-emitting surfaces of the electroluminescence elements facing toward the surface of the room when the device body is installed on the surface of the room. The lighting device further includes a light-transmitting protection cover (32) configured to cover the light-emitting surfaces of the first organic electroluminescence element modules.
