The method involves performing a control step in which a failure of one engine (13) such as internal combustion engine, is detected and a detection threshold is crossed. An electric machine (12) is controlled to deliver auxiliary power. The power is delivered such that total driving power from a hybrid power plant (5) is sufficient to fly an aircraft (1) i.e. rotorcraft. Each of the former engine and another engine (13') or twin-engine is allowed to remain operational, and the engines are operated such that the engines do not deliver power that is greater than a predetermined power. An independent claim is also included for a rotary wing aircraft. |
