Provided is a backlight assembly. It includes a light source of emitting light, a light leakage prevention member which is arranged in a part corresponding to the light source and has a structure consisting of a horizontal part and a vertical part, a light guide plate which includes a light incident surface and a light emission surface, an optical sheet arranged on the light emission surface of the light guide plate, and a bottom chassis which receives the light source, the light leakage prevention member, and the light guide plate. The light source is formed on the side of the bottom chassis. The vertical part of the light leakage prevention member, which is the side of the bottom chassis, is attached to the back of the light source. The vertical part is located in the upper part of the light source, and covers at least one part of the light guide plate. According to the present invention, light leakage in a backlight assembly can be prevented by covering a light source with a light leakage prevention member. A mold frame for mounting a panel can be removed by forming an additional panel mounting part through the structure change of the light leakage prevention member. A process of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device can be simplified by adding the function of a light source holder to the light leakage prevention member. |
