An apparatus for diagnosing failure of fuel cell stack according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a sine wave generation unit which generates a sine wave; a power transistor which controls a current of fuel cell stack in the form of the sine wave by amplifying a sine wave signal; a current calculation unit which calculates the current of the fuel cell stack by using a stack current in the form of the sine wave; a voltage calculation unit which calculates a voltage of the fuel cell stack by using a stack voltage applied from the fuel cell stack; and a control unit which controls the sine wave generation unit so as to generate the sine wave having a specific frequency and calculates impedance of the fuel cell by using the voltage of the fuel cell stack and the current of the fuel cell stack. Therefore, the present invention calculates the size of the current corresponding to the specific frequency in the stack current regardless of the effect of noise by controlling the value of the stack current and is able to obtain the specific frequency signal of the stack current without reduction and calculate the exact impedance.
