An apparatus for detecting an object of a vehicle and a detection method thereof are disclosed. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for detecting an object of a vehicle comprises: a plurality of ultrasonic sensors provided to detect an object on a rear side of the vehicle; an image capturing unit capturing an image on a rear side of the vehicle; a display unit displaying the captured image of a rear side of the vehicle; and an electronic control unit detecting a distance to the object through the ultrasonic sensors, determining a coordinate of the detected object based on the coordinate of two ultrasonic sensors selected based on the distance to the detected object and a distance between the selected two ultrasonic sensors and the detected object, and controlling the display unit to display the determined coordinate of the object.
